Alan Stillman

Executive Director

Alan Stillman has more than 40 years of experience in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), with a focus on co-occurring mental health, substance abuse, forensic, and sexual offense issues. He is a Certified Sex Offender Treatment Provider, Master Social Worker for Addictions Counseling, and a Certified Criminal Justice Specialist.

In his current role, Alan directs and manages all operations for a specialized support services program to assist with the successful placement of adults with I/DD and severe behavioral problems transitioning from state developmental centers to community-based residential programs. Previously he managed a statewide program of intensive community supervision, housing, and treatment for persons adjudicated as sexually violent predators. Prior to joining Liberty, Alan provided direct treatment and training to staff of I/DD residential placements, assisted in developing policies and procedures, and developed outpatient programs and specially designed workbooks for people with I/DD.

Alan regularly publishes articles and delivers presentations to national conferences on topics related to sexual offense and forensic social work. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California and a Master of Social Services graduate of Bryn Mawr College.
