The pilot program that started in 2010 made headlines as the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors will vote to expand the Jail-Based Competency Treatment program in West Valley Detention Center for both Los Angeles and San Bernardino County inmates.
The therapeutic jail program will provide the same restoration of competency services, court-mandated assessments, and psychiatric stabilization services that are presently offered inside California’s state hospitals.
